1/2 day tomorrow; no school on Memorial Day

This is a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, May 27 is a half day for students and staff and the start of the long Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 is a day off for students and staff.

KCPS stands in support of Texas elementary school

Kent County Public Schools stands in solidarity with Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. We want to reassure our families that we are maintaining our strong safety protocols at all of our schools and counselors are available for students and staff.

Keeping up COVID safety as school year winds down

With the last day of school less than a month away, Kent County Public Schools students and staff are urged to continue maintaining safe practices to prevent the spread of COVID.

Applications sought for Ethics Panel member

Applications are currently being sought for the Kent County Public Schools Ethics Panel. One seat on the Ethics Panel is set to expire and applications are being taken for a new member to join. The application deadline is Friday, June 3.

Nominate a KCPS employee or team for the Golden Anchor

The Golden Anchor Award is presented every month to an employee or group of employees who exemplify the vision and mission of Kent County Public Schools. Nominations may be made by parents, staff members and students.

KCPS offers summer programs for children

Whether they are in pre-school, high school or any grade in between, Kent County Public Schools has summer programs for students of all ages. Click "Read More" below for a full list of the programs available this summer.

Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey

Parents or Guardians of children receiving special education and related services were mailed the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey. Parents are asked to complete the survey and return it in the postage-paid envelope by May 22.

KCPS holds annual awards ceremony

Kent County Public Schools held its annual ceremony Monday evening, April 25 recognizing the Teacher of the Year, Support Employee of the Year and Promising Educator Award winner. The ceremony was held in the Kent County High School auditorium.

KENT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS REOPENING PLAN

Kent County Public Schools is devoted to staying firmly anchored in excellence. We remain deeply committed to ensuring that every child receives a quality education that promotes equity, a rigorous and engaging curriculum, and offers a safe and nurturing learning environment. Careful consideration has been taken in developing the reopening plan for our district. The instructional models will depend on which Phase of Reopening is permitted. Each model has been thoroughly reviewed and has included input from stakeholder groups and then reviewed by taskforce groups to ensure the following:

Promoting the safety, welfare, and health of students, employees, and families.
Mitigate educational inequities by creating structures and supports that respond to challenges faced by various populations as informed by data
Providing high-quality teaching and learning to all students.
Prioritizing the social-emotional well-being of students and staff.
