Kent County Public Schools (KCPS) is the smallest district in Maryland, serving approximately 1800 students. Our size allows delivery of personalized learning experiences to students at all levels. The following initiatives focused our efforts to become one of the best school districts in Maryland:

Professional Learning Communities is the process KCPS utilized to regain our focus on student achievement. A Professional Learning Community fosters collaborative school cultures that empower teachers to effectively utilize student data to inform teaching and learning. Our goal is to ensure every student receives rigorous and relevant instruction in every classroom, everyday.

A digital learning environment is available to our students at every level. A digital learning grant provided KCPS with substantial funding to purchase digital devices, software, and programming to enhance teaching and learning. Through our Discovery Education partnership, students access interactive digital media content and digital textbooks to inspire learning and bring the world into the classroom. In addition, our teachers are being trained to effectively use technology to actively engage students and personalize learning. We provide 1-1 devices to all students in grades Pre- Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The entire Kent County community has rallied behind our efforts to systematically improve student achievement at every level. Through the dedication of our staff, parents, and community, KCPS students will succeed academically!
