KCHS Mission
KCHS Mission image

It is our mission to equip every student to achieve success in a diverse global community.  KCHS offers a wide variety of challenging and successful curricular opportunities, athletic programs, and performing arts with various clubs and activities.

Our staff believes that high school should be the experience of a lifetime. In many cases the high school experience sets the stage for successes later in life and provides a lifetime of positive memories for our students. We strongly encourage your child to become involved and engaged outside of the classroom. It will enhance their high school experience.

Kent County High School is proud of our continual goal of providing an excellent education for our students. We have a dynamic, hardworking faculty who are involved in education to benefit your child. We offer honors and Advance Placement courses, dual enrollment opportunities with both Chesapeake College and Washington College. Because KCHS is a comprehensive high school, we also offer career and technology programs in the following areas: Teacher Academy of Maryland, NATEF Automotive Technology, NCCER Construction Technology, ProStart Culinary Arts, CNA and GNA Health Professions, Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering, CASE Agricultural Science, EMT and Fire Science, and FM Broadcasting (90.5FM). For students needing more academic support, our core academic courses are co-taught with a special educator and a general educator.

We are proud of our record and of our success in helping students achieve their dreams once they leave school. The self reported statistics for the Class of 2016 are as follows:

  • 127 Graduates
  • 40% enrolled in either a 4 year university, community college, or technical school
  • 41% enrolled in either a community college, or technical school
  • 11% military
  • 8% workforce

KCHS is proud of its commitment to technology with one-to-one laptops for all students.   We have a partnership with Discovery Education and are diligently working toward using technology as a tool to enhance and differentiate our instruction. We are constantly striving to stay on the cutting edge of technology providing a more efficient building, increased communication, and most importantly, preparing our students for the fast-paced world they will face.

We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and school.

We encourage you to visit the school to see for yourself why our teachers, parents, and students make Kent County High School a great place to learn and grow. Please feel free to contact me at 410-778-4540.

1st Annual Future Aspirations Night

June 1, 2017

KCHS Auditorium

Seniors Arrive by 5:30pm

Program begins 6pm

On June 1st, we are planning our 1st Annual Future Aspirations Night. It is our goal that every senior has a viable plan after high school to further his or her education through college, military, or the workforce.

We want students to be proud of their goals for next year and we want to give each student in the Class of 2017 a chance to share that goal with teachers, family, and friends. Students will wear caps and gowns and be prepared to show the audience a representation of what they will be doing next year.

After the event in the auditorium, we are planning a cookout in the courtyard of hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides. We are inviting parents, sibling(s), KCHS staff and their families. We want to celebrate as a school community this very special time for our Seniors, the Class of 2017!

Please RSVP to:

Character Counts- Leading with Integrity Leadership Seminar

On March 28th, KCHS had the opportunity to take 23 students to a leadership seminar at Dixon Valve, Inc. They learned the importance of having/being a good leader but also about their own leadership styles.  They analyzed how their leadership style may determine how they may be perceived by others and how to best work with other personalities collaboratively.Students participating in the seminar currently hold leadership positions within KCHS athletics or organizations.

Successful leaders:

· Have positive attitudes

· Have overcome adversity at some point

· Have a belief in themselves and team

· Have a goal or goals

· Have the ability to adapt and

· Have the desire to lift team-mates up.

However, at the end of the day, leadership is about building and valuing relationships.

The challenge these students, how will we use this knowledge to create an atmosphere of greater success at KCHS?
