ROCK HALL — Members of the Kent County High School FFA have a big trip planned for next month.
From Oct. 25 to 29, they will be in Indianapolis, Ind. attending the 95th annual National FFA Convention and Expo.

Kent County High School Principal Kris Hemstetter, agriculture teacher Jennifer Kuhl-Depp and FFA officers appeared before the Kent County Board of Education Monday, Sept. 12 to discuss the trip.

They came to the meeting prepared with a number of convention objectives including observing career development events, learning more about marketing in the agriculture industry, attending a national job fair and connecting with Maryland and national FFA chapters.

Student Will Goetz is president of the Kent County High School's FFA chapter.

He spoke to the Board of Education about the convention, saying that FFA has expanded beyond its original scope as Future Farmers of America.

"It's kind of grown out of that. It's bigger than that," Goetz said. "So there are a lot of business expos and there are also a lot of colleges that go to the national convention as well."

The students were asked to return to the Board of Education following the convention to talk about the experience.
