ROCK HALL — Two instructional assistants at Kent County Middle School were lauded at a Board of Education meeting May 9 for their dedication to students.

Chanelle Copper and TyRay Johnson were recognized for their work with this month's Golden Anchor Awards.

Dr. Angela Holocker, principal of Kent County Middle School, made the presentation.

The Golden Anchor Award is given to staff members or groups of employees who exemplify the mission and core values of Kent County Public Schools.

“Kent County Public Schools is an anchor organization that creates an environment of academic excellence through a collaborative, equitable and rigorous learning community,” the mission statement reads.

At the board meeting, Dr. Holocker described the work Copper and Johnson have done to help those students who need the most connections and support.

She spoke about their dedication to students and the high standards they set so that students may recognize their own potential.

"Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Copper have gone above and beyond supporting groups of students at KCMS," Dr. Holocker said. "If it were not for them, the students would not be in the places that they are now."
