Principal's Message
Hello KCHS families,

This is Mrs. Hemstetter, Principal of Kent County High School. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and you are staying filled with hope as we continue into the holiday season.
I believe a strong high school experience is critical in laying an educational and social foundation that influences who a student will become as an adult.
Having raised two children of my own, I know the importance of staying involved in their lives. I welcome you to be a partner in your child’s education and our school community.
• PTSA is a great way to become involved and share your voice.
• KCHS Mentoring and Volunteers are needed in our school.
• KCHS Class fundraisers and events are happening every week.
I will continue to find ways to open up communication to make you aware of all the great things happening at KCHS. Please reach out to ask questions, inquire about volunteer experiences, and keep in touch with our school. My door is always open!
One topic that frequently comes up when talking to families is social media and the impact it has on their child. As you may have guessed, many of the student issues that occur in the high school are in some way connected to social media. For example, we have been seeing KCHS Instagram sites that are sharing pictures of your students without permission.
Social media occurs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week preventing students from getting a break from peer issues once they leave school. It is important for you to have open and honest conversations with your child regarding social media.
During this holiday season make the choice to focus on positives, solutions instead of problems and commonalities instead of differences. Thank you and be safe.
It is always a great day to be a Trojan!
Thank you,
Kris Hemstetter
