2016 Maryland Green School Announcement
 2016 Maryland Green School Announcement

April 20, 2016

Congratulations on Kent County High School having certified as a Maryland Green School.

We recognize the great and green efforts that your school has gone to in order to achieve this significant accomplishment. The Maryland Green School award represents a whole school commitment to environmental literacy for staff, students and the community. Your efforts are making a difference!

In October Maryland was honored the Silver Future Policy Award by the World Future Council, Geneva, Switzerland, October 13, 2015!! Our state was recognized for becoming the first to require students to be environmentally literate as a high school graduation requirement.  MAEOE MD Green Schools are supporting school to implement this statutory requirement.

Today there are more than 557 Green Schools certified in Maryland.  That is nearly 25% of all Maryland schools. Our Maryland Green Schools have a large environmental footprint; changing their communities to become more sustainable. Your school is part of a national and international community of sustainable green schools.  Each year your students are becoming better stewards of our Earth’s resources and developing a better understanding of their own local environment.
