A Message from the Principal

CHARACTER COUNTS at Worton Elementary School and it shows! All of us are fortunate to be part of a school with the mission of academic excellence through inclusive instruction. Teachers, parents and community members work together to meet that mission and I hope you will join us in our efforts. Worton Elementary School is successful because of many people, especially those of the teachers and staff. Student learning is the chief priority for our school. Each student is a valued individual and our school community shares the responsibility for advancing our mission.

The population of Worton Elementary includes 260 students in Pre-kindergarten through grade four. Worton serves a rural, farming population. The geographic district includes the towns of Worton, Betterton, Still Pond, Kennedyville, Lynch, and Melitota. The percentage of students eligible for free and reduced meal benefits is 34%.

Our action plan for school improvement includes goals for improving achievement in reading and math. Worton Elementary has an active School Improvement Team that consists of a cross-section of stakeholders, including faculty and staff, parent and community representatives. We always welcome new members. Please stop in to visit our school or volunteer. We would love to have you.
